The EDACC Foundation issued a Request For Qualifications (RFQs) today seeking experienced, Alberta registered architects for the concept design of the Edmonton Galleria Project’s Phase 1 University of Alberta building. The building, adjacent to EPCOR Tower, will house the University’s Department of Music & Department of Art and Design, a 200-seat recital hall and a 650-seat proscenium theatre/concert hall. There are two other RFQs issued regarding the site. The commercial component (retail, office, residential) has been issued to a limited group of selected architectural firms. The other will address design of the 1,600-seat performance hall and 200-seat black box theatre.
In order to qualify for the Phase I building RFQ, respondents must be registered with the Alberta Association of Architects at the time of closing to respond to this business opportunity. Firms that operate as a single legal entity and are incorporated in the Province of Alberta are preferred. However, they may choose to engage another firm to be part of its architectural team as a sub-prime consultant and/or in another architectural role as a sub-contractor. Responses from joint ventures, partnerships or associations of entities will be considered. Detailed documents can be found and downloaded from the Alberta Purchasing Connection.
